Data Management

The Data Management Team in the Intensive Care Unit collects information about every patient who is admitted to ICU. This information is used to assist with the management of resources and planning within the ICU as well as to improve practice and patient outcomes.

Data is collected on every patient that comes into our ICU. This captures the number of admissions, demographics, type of admissions and diagnosis of these admissions.

This data is then used for funding for ICU beds, services, staffing and equipment such as ventilators for our critically ill patients.

This de-identified data is reported on the ANZICS CORE database which helps with benchmarking performance across all Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Units.
