Malignant Hyperthermia Quiz
Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) is an uncommonly seen, potentially fatal, disorder of the skeletal muscle cell. The syndrome is classically seen after the administration of depolarising muscle relaxants such as Suxamethonium or volatile inhalation anaesthetics such as halothane to susceptible individuals. The classic MH crisis involves a skeletal muscle rigidity, hyperthermia, rhabdomyolysis, hyperkalaemia and acidosis which before the syndrome was fully understood carried a 70 to 90% mortality. This 10 question multiple choice quiz aims to further the knowledge by Critical Care nurses of this rare syndrome.
